Lazy? or Smart?
So I am sitting in the MC with a ramshackle lunch waiting the hour and a half between my two classes of the day. I could head back to my apartment and have a real lunch but that would require a long downhill trek followed by a long uphill trek back to the Benson building (which couldn't be farther) in the 150 mph wind (slight exaggeration). So comment and tell me if I'm being lazy or smart.
I did just get out of Elementary Geography which is interesting because I'm in a class to relearn elementary level geography THEN learn how to teach it....shouldn't be hard? My last class yesterday was music in the classroom and we spent the first half hour singing a welcome song, substituting each individual's name into it and banging on tambourines. It will definitely be an eventful class...
I did meet my new FHE family which seems pretty exciting and we have a decent number of unengaged, RM boys! Don't get too excited mom. I have yet to hear from my job here which I forgot to mention is Art Modeling. I basically sit for 3 hours at a time while people draw my head and make 8.10 and hour. NOT BAD!
The funniest part of this semester is the 3 newbie freshman girls living with Beth and I. Beth is very busy with her own stuff and I'm the next oldest and I feel like such a mom around them. I help them find classes, tease about boys, suggest study habits or how to handle certain assignments and best of all, tell them (even if I'm watching with them) that they've had enough online television and need to head to bed if they want to survive the semester. I feel so old and one of them is even a few months older than me!
I know I promised a video but I'm not about to start recording this out loud in the cafeteria. Time to work on some homework.

Stop...DALEK TIME!
Alrighty, so I'm all moved into my new apartment and all the other girls are finally here and with that comes:
COLLEGE IRONIES
The last girl to get here, Maiah, just so happens to be an air force brat who lived in Germany and became close friends with Chelsea Behr (my friend from Germany who lives right down the street) and she just happens to love Doctor Who! Hence the title. My new scrolling background on my desktop is my favorite Doctor Who characters and I am seriously tempted to start finding pieces to do a 10th Doctor outfit for Halloween! If you think that's cheesy, please, do give me ideas!
I am stuck going to I-night tonight (Ben's fault). The first time I see him, he is harassing me and being the big I-team leader recruiting everyone (even though I'm not new to this....>:( ... )
On another note, I've met some awesomely ethnic people here! And I think classes are gonna be just fine. Next time, if I don't have a towel on my head, I will make a video. Until then,
GERANIMO!!!

Cosby
Yes, it's true, I saw Bill Cosby perform live last night!! One of the many benefits of attending such an awesome college is the awesome activities available. And on that note, it's time for a recap!
Last Saturday evening, I went on a large group date to the ropes course. Flipping amazing time. We did some team building type activities then got to go on the giant swing! You're basically hoisted a hundred feet in the air then you have to drop yourself. I think we took some fun pics of kids posing in the air. I kept imagining an awesome photo shoot of going up there in a flow-y ballgown and posing while you're flying! Must tell Addi that one. I also caught an awkward couple making out in their kitchen last night and had a good laugh with the neighbors as we watched them for 5 minutes straight.
Today I got an email requesting a reading tutor for a 12 year old boy. Heck I love reading! So I called the lady and left her a message. Cross your fingers!
And a message to my family who is currently having a blast. How come when I work my butt off in the summer, we might possibly get a zoo day and when the two youngest boys do, they get a zoo day and camping trip with the nephew!!!!???? I really miss that kid right now.... >=(

On a rainy day...
Yes it is pouring rain outside. So dull and dreary. The party my mom told me to have failed. And all my friends are at each other's grad parties. And apparently my name was called at graduation. Doesn't the school even know I'm gone? And when are they gonna send my diploma? I blame the weather.
This morning I did get to go see my Aunt Liesl's grave with my grandparents and it was a really good experience. I helped Grandma arrange the flowers and did not find the silly band that I dropped in the flower hole last year. Maybe Liesl enjoyed it. JK that's weird. I did get some neat family history stories though.
I think tonight, with my depressing boredom, I shall make microwave smores. Super good just not as crispy. And Addi is trying to get me to go out. In this weather? It's not like we can go any crazier staying inside than we already are!

Get your Latin on!
Yes, it's been awhile again but stuff actually happened! I went latin dancing with Beth and it was super fun. I took a pic cuz I used my Freshman year show choir skirt and looked really cute but it decided it did not want to be compatible with my laptop at the moment. I already mentioned on facebook but if anyone is looking to go to school up here in the fall, my roommate and I found a 5-person apartment at Normandy that we need 3 more girls to fill!

I know, I know.
yes it's been about a week and I was almost out of the habit of posting! But I'm back and still in pajamas so you don't get a video today. Life has been interesting. My grandma keeps bringing me all kinds of food I can't eat on my own and I just realized today that I can't have normal breakfast because my milk went sour.....I really need to go to the grocery store. As you may have seen on facebook, I've been pretty sad and lonely lately so last night I ended up at my Family Home Evening Brother's apartment. Only two of the guys were there but we ended up playing a game called imaginiff. Of course I was winning but one guy thought that if I were an object in an office supply store, I'd be an inspirational poster....I don't know what kind but it was flattering all the same. Same guy walked me home and then ended up at my neighbors with me watching Pride and Prejudice. I think he liked it! Well, I also have laundry to do and I should probably clean my room some.
Until next time, Over and Out.

Odor Eater
So my lovely roommate Beth was putting what looked like baby butt powder in her shoes. She explained it is not in fact baby butt powder but foot odor powder. After putting the powder in each shoe, she continued to dip her own feet in each powdery shoe. After stepping out, we all realized that this may not be the best idea in the world. We now have white powdery Beth footprints all over our carpet! Let's hope it vacuums out!

bad morning
So my alarm clock decided to become unplugged during the night. I woke up, saw it and literally jumped off my bed. It was painful. But it was also 8:47 and I had a class all the way up the hill on a super freaking windy day and I didn't even get breakfast. 3 straight classes in a row until 11:30. Up a hill, down a little then up even higher....altitude is killing me.
Now that I've survived today though, I can comment on yesterday! We had devotional with President Clark (pres. of the school) and I saw something amazing. I'm going to entitle this segment:
Little Beautiful Moments
Before the devotional started, I was looking around the auditorium (it looks like the conference center!) and at all the students who came. It take
s dedication. As we started the opening hymn, I noticed out of the corner of my eye, a group of deaf or hard of hearing students. One guy was in the front facing them to translate but during the whole song, the entire group was singing with their hands. It was amazing.
After returning home from a wonderful devotional, focusing on the love of Christ and the love we can share with each other, I had almost reached my dorm when I saw this in a trashcan!

10 months later...BYU-I!
Mom, you should be proud. I finally got back on here! It's my third day in Rexburg (not counting days I wasn't on campus) and so so so so so much has already happened. I'll try not to be gossipy about this but it's great.
Saturday - It was "Get Connected" day. All the awkward freshman sat in a circle learning each others names and where we're all from. One guy from Belgium and a boy and girl from India! WIN! Later learned the indian girl is Leeza, one of my new close friends (more on her later). Walked home very late at night and got lost but asking a random stranger for directions was just fine! I love the spirit on campus!
Sunday - Strangest church day. No babies or toddlers whining. And lots of random off-topic comments to take up the time. Not as spiritual as I would've liked but it was nice enough. Then found out I was supposed to have a Bishop's interview at 9:45 PM! Only in college... Luckily, lunch was interesting with my roommate Beth and my big brother Ben and three of his roommates. I made spaghetti (on my own!) and they brought brownies. Nice guys and good conversation. We also played cards. Right after they left, got a new message that the bishop wanted to see me in 10 minutes! Hurried back down to church (half a block away) and got an interesting new calling. I'm nervous because I'll be teaching people that are all older than me...how's that for my first Sunday?
Monday - Funnest day yet. Got up late because I set my alarm wrong but so did Leeza! So we both went late to our first activity which was a meeting about the wonderful learning model up here. The best line was when a leader was mentioning that 1+1=2 and a guy stood up and said, "Actually, according to BYU-I, 1+1=eternity!" That was Facebook worthy. After some one on one with our I-Teams we headed over to the Kirkham for a bunch of videos and skits about getting involved. Lots of candy was thrown into the audience and I got my own frisbee. The last video was about getting involved in service and how this school started and what it does for students. It was so moving that by the end, every student was completely silent and many trying to hold back tears. There were some great quotes from past church authorities and university presidents. My favorite was about how whether we choose to hold to our covenants or not, He will always reach out to you. We were all startled when a guy popped up on stage to say the closing prayer! We then headed to a fun room where we could sign up for all kinds of service and club opportunities and get lots of free pens and candy! My pockets were loaded, of course =). After heading to the gorgeous new I-Center for a BBQ, Leeza realized she really needed to shop. The prices on campus are ridiculous. Not knowing where the grocery store was, we resourcefully headed to Ben's apartment to ask him and mooch some swedish fish. After finally finding the store, I realized that Leeza hadn't shopped on her own before, let alone in America. We wandered around comparing prices and I gave her all my mom's advice on how much to buy for how many people and how long it's going to last depending on where you put it and the best ways to store certain foods. An hour later, we realized Leeza had to much stuff to comfortably carry 10 blocks home...God saved us again. A random guy in a blue polo waved at us and said "hey I just saw you guys at the activity fair!" Sure enough, he was an I-Rep shopping with his friend. We talked some more then asked if they had a car by chance. They had two and immediately offered us a ride home. We didn't even have to ask! His name was Nick, so I was not driving with a stranger. Upon arriving at our dorm, Leeza fell out of the car and skinned her knee really bad. Nick grabbed all her groceries while I helped her up the stairs and to her room. He was so nice and then just left. We didn't even get his number! It was so wonderful to know we could trust him though.
Now that I am snug at home while the wind rages outside (funny, I call this home!) I decided this would be the fastest and easiest way to tell all my loved ones about my college experience. Class starts tomorrow and I should probably get prepared...
